General Burnside Island State Park features an 18-hole golf course and a 102-site campground on an island. The park was named for the sideburn-whiskered Civil War general Ambrose Burnside. Burnside led patrols along the Cumberland River, circling this 400-acre island while on the lookout for Confederate soldiers.
